By Adam Hughes
There are just over three weeks now until Cincinnati Reds pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training in Goodyear, AZ, and fans are starting to get anxious to see this year’s team round into shape. Who better to stoke that excitement than pinch hitter Donald Lutz.

Lutz was signed by an amateur free agent in 2007 and clawed his way through the Reds’ minor league system finally crashing the Bigs in 2013. In 62 games over two seasons, Lutz has hit .211 with one home run and nine runs batted in, logging time at all three outfield positions, first base and designated hitter.
In 40 plate appearances as a pinch hitter, Lutz has hit .211 with a .250 OPS.
OK, so maybe Lutz does not engender visions of World Series glory, but he is headed for Reds’ camp again, and his versatility in the field could make him a roster candidate once again.
And in January, what’s more exciting than contemplating the future of the Reds?
