Oscar Taveras Dies in Car Accident: Cincinnati Reds Players Offer Thoughts and Prayers

For all its annoyances, social media occasionally redeems itself by reminding us that even our heroes have personal lives and real, human emotions. Such was the case on Sunday after we learned that St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Oscar Taveras had died in a car accident in the Dominican Republic. Even though Taveras had just started his Major League career, and even though he played for a bitter rival, several Cincinnati Reds players and personalities took to Twitter to offer their thoughts, prayers and condolences:
