Double headers are meant to be fun, two baseball games in one day?! Are you kidding me, this is like heaven. Unless you are a Cincinnati Reds fan, euphoria led to depression as the story of two teams that are one continued.
While that was painful to watch, Bearcats fans hijacking #MyXavierCourt was certainly the highlight of my night and it should have been the highlight to yours last night as well. It was all in good natured fun, actually no it wasn’t so who cares. Cincinnati hates Xavier and had a little fun at their expense, like always, last night.
And to cap off my already annoying day my Xbox360 died last night. I mean sure it was 7 years old and had been repaired twice but I liked that guy, he was a soldier. Now I’m stuck, do I buy another 360 or get an Xbox One? I don’t play video games all that often, I don’t have time! But Xbox One looks amazing, such life decisions over here.
Cincinnati Reds (18-21)
Game 1 saw an absolutely dominant outing by Johnny Cueto once again. He pitched his 3rd complete game of the season and his second shutout of the season. He has now started 9 games this season going 7+ innings in each game, the longest streak for a starting pitcher since 1937.
Cueto allowed only 3 hits and stuck out 8 Padres on his way to his 4th win of the season. Cueto’s win was aided by a Brandon Phillips 3-run blast in the 5th and a Zach Cozart single that scored two runs in the 6th. Cincinnati would win 5-0.
Game 2 was not anything like Game 1. Jeff Francis made his Reds debut as starting pitcher, his night went exactly how everyone expected it to 5.0IP, 5H, 3ER and the loss on the night. While Francis put the Reds in the hole the bullpen did not aid him at all.
Every negative storyline about the Reds this season was evident in Game 2. No offense, bullpen throwing garbage, it was a frustrating game to watch.
#MyXavierCourt
Xavier University invited their fans to design Xavier’s new basketball court on twitter. That is great in a perfect world. As you know this is not a perfect world and Bearcats fans are prominent on twitter, thus hilarity ensued with Bearcat fan designed courts.
Check it all out here.
