The Cyclones Welcome Back O’Hanley

The last two weeks have been busy on the ECHL Cyclones roster. Players have been coming, going, and coming back again. The Cincinnati Cyclones, who are affiliates of the Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators of the NHL, have been involved in roster musical chairs with the AHL San Antonio Rampage.

Just last week the Cyclones announced that forward Jonathon Hazen and defenseman Josh McFadden were assigned to the club from the Rampage. They also announced that Brian O’Hanley had been recalled to San Antonio. Then, just one week after Cincinnati sent O’Hanley for his first trip to the Rampage, they announced he would be returned to the team on a loan from their AHL partner.

In order for him to return to the team, though, the Cyclones had to make room on their roster. To do so, they traded defenseman Mike Liambas to the Orlando Solar Bears. Liambas is in his third professional hockey season after playing amateur hockey in the OHL and CIS. He played 55 games for the Cyclones. In his time in Cincinnati, he managed to rack up 11 points and 262 penalty minutes.

O’Hanley’s return to Cincinnati is exciting. Prior to being to recalled to the AHL, the defenseman found himself tied for the second most points on the team this season after just three games with the team. Last week, O’Hanley was named runner-up for the ECHL Player of the Week and has tallied up two goals and two assists so far this season for the Cyclones. Before coming to Cincinnati, he played in 44 AHL games split between the Syracuse Crunch, Peoria Riverman, and Worchester Sharks. O’Hanley is only 11 away from 100 points in his professional career.
