The Bengals lost defensive tackle Geno Atkins to a torn ACL last November but held together enough to win their division. Could they have won a playoff game with Atkins in the fold? Their chances would have been a lot better, that’s for sure.
Now Atkins has worked through his long recovery and clocked some time in the preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals a couple of weeks ago. The Bengals need that knee to hold up and for Atkins to blow out the rust early on if they want to reach their potential in 2014.
