Bengals Injuries:

The Cincinnati Bengals travel to the desert today to take on the Arizona Cardinals  in the third game of Cincy’s 2014 preseason schedule.  Game 3 is usually the most telling about what a team will look like come opening day of the regular season, and the health of several Bengals is still uncertain as the Cardinals loom.

The latest on news on the injury front from around the web:

  • Linebacker Vontaze Burfict, fresh off a successful contract negotiation, has missed several days of practice due to a reported stomach virus and may be replaced against Arizona by Sean Porter, according to Josh Kirkendall at Cincy Jungle.
  • Nearly ten months after tearing his ACL, lineman Geno Atkins will return to the field against the Cards, according to Coley Harvey at ESPN.com.
  • Meanwhile on the quarterback front, ESPN reports that Tyler Wilson is unlikely to play (head) and that Jason Campbell will likely be back in the saddle as Andy Dalton’s backup.

The preseason is winding down, so we’ll probably see more of Dalton and the first-stringers than we have so far in August.  Key battles to watch include the linebackers, backup QB, and second-string wide receivers.
