With former coordinators defecting to other teams, the Bengals find themselves in the unusual position breaking in new coordinators on both offense and defense in 2014. Like Jackson, new DC Paul Guenther has history with the team, but a change is a change, and there will be adjustments to make as Guenther puts his stamp on the defense. While he doesn’t figure to modify a whole lot from the NFLs number-three unit a year ago, Guenther seems intent on spreading responsibilities and appointing leadership roles, as he has done with Vontaze Burfict. If the personalities continue to mesh and the players mature as expected, all will be well, but camp should tell us a lot about how smooth this transition will be.
