Xavier Point Guard Semaj Christon Headed to Oklahoma City Thunder
By Adam Hughes
Xavier University point guard Semaj Christon, the lone player from the Cincinnati area selected in last week’s NBA Draft, can’t seem to get a foothold in his new league. Drafted by the Miami Heat with the number 55 overall pick in the the second round, Christon was shipped to the Charlotte Hornets as part of the deal that brought Shabazz Napier to Miami. Less than 48 hours later, Christon is on the move again, heading to the Oklahoma City Thunder for cash considerations. The deal was first reported by NBA.com on Friday evening.
It’s unclear where Christon fits in with the Thunder since they already have Russell Westbrook and Reggie Jackson at point, but Anthony Slater at The Oklahoman reports that Christon will come in on a non-guaranteed contract. The summer league looms for the former all-conference player who had hoped to go in the first round but slipped when questions arose about his ability to drive an offense.
