The Morning Update (5/22): Cincinnati Reds, Rory

A series win! Can you believe it everybody?  The Cincinnati Reds won a one run game as well. Incredible, granted it doesn’t mean our season is turned yet but it has to help. The Reds are just happy to get out of Washington D.C. a 15 inning game, a butt kicking and then a long rain delayed game is not how you want to spend a three game series.

Do any of you watch Catfish on MTV? If you don’t you should, granted you may walk away dumber than when you started like I did last night. Few quick quotes from last night “I’m not like in love with him, but we could move in together.” Coming from a girl about a guy she’s never met. “You’re exactly how you looked on line, I still love your swag.” Yes a 21-year old girl said swag, and meant it. “The way we talk is so different, the emojis we use, all the extra letters, thats us.” Uh no bro, everyone does that, read my texts from my girlfriend, you aren’t special.

I guess I should describe these two for you. The girl, 21 from Texas who is instagram famous. She is a solid 9 no doubt about that, physically great, uh mentally, about a 7th grader. She falls in love with a Buick driving rapper from Boca Raton, Florida named T-lights. Yeah I have no clue what that means. Either way he is an awful rapper/singer but hey those crazy kids are in love. They just made us dumber in the process.

Cincinnati Reds

Like I said a series win! The Reds won 2-1 Wednesday night in Washington D.C. behind a great outing from Alfredo Simon who lasted the 1 hour rain delay, a rarity for pitchers. Simon went 7 innings strong allowing only 5 hits and 1 earned run over that time. A night after ace Johnny Cueto got lit up this was a much needed turn around for the club.

Cincinnati’s scoring came in the 4th inning when Brandon Phillips drove in Zach Cozart. Brayan Pena quickly followed that and drove in Phillips for a 2-0 lead for the Reds. That is all they would need as the bullpen held on and Aroldis Chapman got his first save of the season.

The Reds have Thursday off as they return to Cincinnati for a weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Rory McIlroy

Yesterday brought the news that Rory had called off his wedding with Caroline Wozniacki because he wasn’t ready for everything that marriage entails. I’ll define that for you “I’m a 25 year old millionaire, single life is going to be really good for me.” Hey I can’t blame him I’d do the same thing.

Caroline is hot, we all know that but come on. Rory could get anyone at this point, although he is a goofy looking guy himself. Maybe breaking up with her will bring his game back. We all know it has been crap for awhile, maybe he just needed some space.
