Did you feel good about that Joey Votto walk off Friday night? Well you shouldn’t have, the Cincinnati Reds got absolutely stomped Saturday in a display of their true ability. An 11-2 drudging by the Rockies sent Reds fans home with their bobble heads and not much else.
The Bengals wrapped up the 2014 NFL Draft on Saturday by making a big splash and drafting former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron. Although it seems the people of Cincinnati are more excited for his girlfriend Katherine Webb to come here than AJ himself. Either way the 2014 season should be a good one.
As for the Reds I have bitched about the team enough this season. Honestly I’m tired of it, so this rant isn’t about the team but about the fans. Promotional giveaways/bobblehead nights are the worst nights to go to the ballpark. Fans that only care about the bobble head are there, pushing their way in line to be one of the first 25,000 to get one. Then they know nothing about baseball, they clap at the wrong times, they think every pop out is a home run. Sure it sells tickets and that is why the Reds do it, but come on people. You ruin the ballpark experience.
Cincinnati Reds (16-19)
Mediocrity is the name of the game for the Reds, an 11-2 loss is just another wound for the fans and the team. Alfredo Simon, a generally great pitcher this season got rocked Saturday giving up 8 hits and 5 earned runs over 3 innings. That opened the door for Nick Christiani who gave up two runs before he was pulled after 2 innings.
Following Christiani’s departure Reds manager Bryan Price decided to put in JJ Hoover, because that is what you do when you want to give up more runs. Hoover’s ERA stands at 10.03 now after giving up 3 more runs Sunday. Why Hoover is still up with the big club is beyond anyone’s reasonable thoughts. Cincinnati optioned Curtis Partch to Louisville making room for Chapman. Hoover should have been sent down.
At this point it doesn’t matter who scored the runs. I don’t care, you shouldn’t either, losing by 9 runs you don’t celebrate anything. Cincinnati and Colorado return to GABP for the rubber match at 1:10pm.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals finished up their 2014 NFL Draft on Saturday with 5 picks over rounds 4-7. The Bengals drafted Center Russell Bodine (UNC) in the 4th round, Quarterback AJ McCarron (Alabama) in the 5th round, Linebacker Marquis Flowers (Arizona) in the 6th round, Wide Receiver James Wright (LSU) in the 7th round and Lavelle Westbrooks Cornerback (Georgia Southern) in the 7th round.
All in all the Bengals selected based on their needs, not who was best on the board. That is great for Bengals fans, the club has done a great job recently drafting players and developing them.

Cincinnati Cyclones
The Cyclones lost to the Fort Wayne Komets Saturday night in Fort Wayne. A 3-2 loss in overtime has tied the series at 2-2. Game 5 will be Sunday at 6pm in Fort Wayne. The series returns to Cincinnati on Tuesday.

You want to hug Derek Jeter, you know you do. He slept with Lyla Garrity, you want to hug Jeets. Just make sure your buddy doesn’t incriminate himself in the process. “Go, go, go, go” is never good.
