So my friend Matt Niehaus does his always entertaining “The Morning Update”, well I’m going to start my thing called, the “Dark Night Evening Update”. Okay, I know the name is pretty dame lame, but I don’t care. I’ll be recapping the day in Cincinnati sports and probably talk about what I do in my daily life.

Easter:

Hope y’all had a wonderful and blessed Easter, with egg hunting and eating lots of food.  I went to church and spoke about my testimony, it went pretty well. After, of course we had our egg hunting, got lots of candy, mostly snickers though. Then, I ran a 1/2 marathon, you may ask, why Jesse? Because I’m training for a marathon, yes the flying pig race in downtown Cincinnati, looking forward to it.

Cincinnati Reds:

Hey! The Reds won their second consecutive series as they took two of three from the Chicago Cubs this weekend. In the final game of the series today, the offense racked up extra base hits like crazy, and that 105 million dollar pitcher (Homer Bailey) finally picked up his first win of the season, going six decent innings.

Columbus Blue Jackets:

I just started watching hockey last year, and let me tell you, the Stanley Cup Playoffs is the best in sports, yeah I know it’s shocked coming from a black man, because not a lot of them watch the sport, but this guy does and I’m enjoying every bit of it. Now to the Blue Jackets, what a game last night in Pittsburgh against the Penguins. After losing Game 1, they came back and picked up the franchise first playoff win ever in their 14 year existence. Matt Calvert scored two goals, including the game winner 1:10 into the second overtime to give the Jackets a 4-3 victory and tied up the best of seven series with the Pens at one.

Game 3 is at Columbus tomorrow night at 7pm and let me just say, Nationwide Arena is about  to be “turnt up.”

Here’s the video of the night, even though it’s from last night of Calvert’s game winning goal.
