Alright before we get into the Cincinnati Reds win yesterday in The Morning Update I talked about going to the movies, but I was so wrapped up in the annoying people in the theater I forgot to talk about the movie.
We saw Divergent, you know the Hunger Games esque movie set in a post civil war earth? It had the girl from Secret Life of an American Teenager, yeah that movie. Anyways it was a decent movie, I didn’t read the books. What I have a problem with is the fact that this takes place in post-war Chicago, windows are blown out buildings are devastated. You get the feeling they don’t have electricity. They the L train goes by. Ok hold up. You have jet engines on the side of buildings for wind power but you can run the train to Gary, Indiana? Also you have all of these high tech weapons and computers but you can’t repair the city? It looks like Life After People, the Chicago River has no water, oh right neither does Lake Michigan. The disparity between what they have as a civilization and what they don’t makes no sense whatsoever. All around though it was a decent movie, a little long but what do you expect.
Ok back to reality, the Cincinnati Reds played two games on Tuesday. They finished the suspended game from Monday night and played their originally scheduled game.
Cincinnati Reds
After losing 8-7 in the delayed game earlier in the evening Tuesday the Reds looked to turn it around in the second game. With temperatures in the high to mid 30’s around first pitch, you could see your breath, Mike Leake took to the mound for the Reds.
A 7-5 win for the Reds has set their season record at 5-9. They got the win behind two 2-run home runs, one by Todd Frazier and another by Mike Leake. Yes the pitcher blasted one to left field. Leake dominated the Pirates hitters for the most part, allowing only 5 hits and 3 earned runs. The trend of great starting pitchers for the Reds continued.
No Snow
As quick as the snow was here it was gone. I have to be honest when I was at the Reds game last night I was wishing it would snow. How cool would it be to watch baseball in a snow storm?! I was bundled up so it would have been cool.
Boston Marathon
Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. Four people lost their lives, over 200 injured in a cowardly attack on innocent people.
It is only fitting that another sick person should come to life on the anniversary. Someone placed two back packs around the finish line of the marathon Tuesday evening. One bag had a rice cooker with confetti, the other had camera equipment. Both bags were detonated by the Boston Bomb Squad and a suspect was arrested. Every other site has published the culprits name. RFB will not give publicity to such a sick person.
The marathon will be run next Monday.
Video of the Day
Taken from Red Bull Rampage. This mountain biker has some serious attachments. Not only is teetering on the ridge of a mountain with death on either side he’s on a bike trying to find his way down. Oh and he’s scared of the wind blowing him off the mountain. Man up, let out some Rick Flair’s and dive bomb the run.
