Cincinnati Reds right-hander Mat Latos was scratched from his scheduled rehab start for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday night

Reds said manager Brian Price said Latos has elbow inflammation and would be reevaluated in a few days. Price said while there is no timetable for Latos’ next start, the team was not viewing the setback as serious.

Latos did not pitch in a spring training game and had offseason surgery on his right elbow and his left meniscus. Following one rehab start with Double-A Pensacola, allowing five runs in four innings, he was scheduled to pitch tonight for Louisville.

Also today, right-handed reliever Jonathan Broxton was activated from the disabled list to replace right-hander Trevor Bell. Bell was placed on the 15-day disabled list with elbow inflammation.

Last thing this team needs is more injuries or setbacks, oh this season is starting out the way, Reds’ fans did not want too.

The Reds take on the Cardinals tonight in-game two of their three game series in St Louis. First pitch is at 8:15pm. The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1. Pitching match up will be Homer Bailey for the Reds and Lance Lynn for the Cardinals.
