Opening Day is upon us once again, as Cincinnati Reds fans make their annual pilgrimage to Great American Ballpark many are wondering what changes there are to their beloved ballpark in 2014. There have been quite a few subtle changes, a few fan enhancements that many fans will learn to love and of course, new concessions have been added.

Lets start with the concessions, everyone loves the traditional hot dog with a beer or coke. Nothing more american than a hotdog at the ballgame. While that is a great option not everyone likes the traditional choices though. For those fans the Reds have added numerous options over the years. This year the club added a Taste of Belgium stand, the very popular belgian inspired eatery will now be available at the ballpark.

Taste of Belgium will bring their famous waffles with them, chocolate and strawberry toppings for the waffles will be available. In addition you can get Belgian fries, and Chicken and Waffles served with Ohio Maple syrup. Not your traditional ballpark food but a great option for those looking for something different. This will be behind section 133 on the first base line.

The most popular addition to GABP this season has to be the craft beer bar. It will be know as the Reds Brewery District and will feature 60 taps with 23 craft beers and the traditional Anheuser-Busch Bud Light, Goose Island and Stella Artois. The craft beers which will be offered will include local favorites. Included is Mad Tree, 50 West, Blank Slate, Rivertown, Rheingeist, and Christian Morelein. This will be between sections 117 and 118 on the third base line.

Hipsters rejoice, there is a Bacon challenge at the Machine Room this season. Eat four one pound slabs of Bacon on a sandwich and you win a tshirt plus four sandwiches. Or throw up, whatever comes first.

Fan experience wise the ballpark has 60 new iBeacons around the ballpark. Apple worked in conjunction with MLB on this, it allows your iOS7 device to receive location specific offers and ballpark information. Turn on your bluetooth and location services to access this.

The Reds Connect Zone behind section 110 will allow Reds fans to come use free wifi to catch up on social media as well as charging stations to charge your mobile device. In addition there will be 25 screens of Reds tweets and instagram pictures. This might be social media overkill but it is good to see the Reds getting involved with the fans.

2014 will be a fun year at the ballpark be sure to stop down and check out the new additions and hopefully watch a winning team.
