Xavier Sells Out Against Creighton
By Matt Niehaus
The Xavier Musketeers announced a sellout of the Cintas Center for their Saturday March 1st game against the Creighton Bluejays. The university announced Wednesday that the game was sold out, three days before the game, they also announced that they would for the first time ever sell standing room only tickets.
Xavier’s Cintas Center seats 10,250 people, with standing room only tickets being sold this will undoubtedly be the largest game in the history of the Cintas Center. The university did not say how many standing room only tickets would be sold.
Creighton comes in to the Cintas Center as the #9 team in the country tied for the lead in the Big East with #8 Villanova. Xavier sits in third in the Big East standing, they appear to be in the tournament at the moment. Creighton beat Xavier in January 95-89. Xavier needs an upset this weekend to assure a secured tournament bid.
With a game against Creighton this weekend and Villanova next Thursday March 6th Xavier needs to win one of those games to bolster their resume for the tournament. Their only quality win this season has been over #11 Cincinnati way back in December when Cincinnati was still finding who the were.
