Put away the record for the Temple Owls (5-12, 0-7). The 15th ranked Cincinnati Bearcats Men’s Basketball were strongly challenged throughout the game in their last meeting earlier this month, where the Bearcats won 69-58.
The Bearcats (18-2, 7-0) will look to extend their winning streak to 12 games as they are in Philadelphia to take on the Owls in the rematch tomorrow afternoon.
Cronin’s troops are coming off a 69-51 victory over the Central Florida Knights on Thursday. The team opened the 2nd half running on a 25-8 run to put it out of reach.
The remarkable stat we have said eveytime they have done it, is the 27 consecutive games holding their opponent to less than 70 points.
Bearcats are led by Seniors Sean Kilpatrick and Justin Jackson, who both had solid games last time out. Jackson matched a career high in blocks with seven and added 12 points in the win over the Knights on Thursday. Kilpatrick had 19 points as he continues to lead the American Athletic Conference in points per game.
This game has all the meaning of a trap game, with the huge game at Louisville looming on Thursday, the Bearcats must be ready tomorrow or I can definitely see them losing this one.
The Owls held a 47-45 lead in the first meeting between the two with 7:24 left, so they can play with the Bearcats. Dalton Pepper and Quenton DeCosey are their top scorers. Will Cummings didn’t play in the first game because of concussion-like symptoms, he’ll be on the court tomorrow.
I expect a close one in Philly, but the Cats will have to grind this one out to win the game.
Tip-off is at 4pm
