Sean Kilpatrick and the Cincinnati Bearcats continue its winning streak as they defeated the South Florida Bulls 61-54 to extend their winning streak to ten games and remained undefeated in the American Athletic Conference (17-2,6-0).
The Bearcats got a pair of key three pointers by Troy Caupain and Jermaine Sanders to lift the team in the second half. Caupain hit a trey to give Cincinnati a 42-37 lead during a 9-2 run. Later, Sanders hit a big three late in the game when it was tied at 47 to put the Bearcats ahead for good. The win also snapped a four game losing streak at USF.
Cincinnati extended their impressive streak of holding an opponent to under 70 points to 26 consecutive games, which is the nation’s longest active streak. It’s been a year and three days since an opponent has scored 70 points or more on the Bearcats.
Kilpatrick led the way with 18 points including a solid 7-17 from the field. Shaq Thomas added in 10 points and Ge’Lawn Guyn had 8 key points. Guyn had two late three pointers in the first half to put the Bearcats ahead at halftime 30-27, after blowing a 10 point lead in the first half.
The team will have five days off until their next game, which will be on Thursday, when the UCF Knights come to Fifth Third Arena. Tip-off is at 9pm on CBS Network or on the radio (700 WLW).
