Friday afternoon saw the Cincinnati Reds announce their spring training dates for the 2014 season. The news comes as a teaser for baseball fans in Cincinnati who are anxiously awaiting the 2014 season.
Pitchers and Catchers report to Goodyear, AZ on February 14th, position players report five days later on the 19th. The Cactus league play starts on February 26th as the Cincinnati Reds will play the Cleveland Indians in their first “game” since the Reds were embarrassed in the one game NL playoff.
The Cactus league runs from February 26th until March 29th, the Cincinnati Reds will wrap up Cactus League play on March 27th. Cincinnati will once again share a complex with the Cleveland Indians.
With the release of the Spring Training dates the Cincinnati Reds also released their list of invitees to Spring Training. The list includes pitchers Jose Diaz, Lee Hyde and Chien-Ming Wang; catchers Corky Miller, Rossmel Perez and Max Ramirez; infielders Argenis Diaz, Reynaldo Navarro and Kristopher Negron; and outfielder Jason Bourgeois.
Looking at the invitees there is no one that sticks out to have the potential to make the opening day roster. Jason Bourgeois would be the best bet to make the roster, other than that someone will have to have an amazing spring.
Until Spring Training starts check back for more Reds updates.
