Cincinnati Bengals Fall To Pittsburgh Steelers 30-20.
By Jesse Mapati
In a game, where the Cincinnati Bengals had a chance to prove to the national audience on Sunday night that they’re for real, it failed on doing that part. With the loss last night, the team lost a great opportunity to leap-frog the New England Patriots for the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff picture, after the Miami Dolphins did the Bengals a huge favor on beating the Patriots yesterday afternoon. All the Bengals had to do was to win. That wasn’t the case. The team did not show up with any energy until later in the game, it was a disappointing showing. I think a positive lighting is that the remaining two games of the regular season is at Paul Brown Stadium, where they haven’t loss there this season (6-0.
The injuries ounce again are taking a hole on this team, and last night it hit them harder at Pittsburgh. Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, making his first career NFL start in place of veteran Terrance Newman. He hurt his foot late in the fourth quarter, but was able to return to the game plays later. In the first half, linebacker James Harrison’s homecoming back to the steel city was short-lived as he left the game with a concussion. Punter Kevin Huber left the game with a fractured jaw, after he was blind sided by a Steelers player during the Antonio Brown punt return touchdown in the first quarter.
I won’t got in-depth on what happened in the game, but let’s just say it wasn’t Andy Dalton fault, it was the SPECIAL TEAMS. The defense for the second week missed crucial tackles, and we all know defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer will be on them again.
The Bengals return home to face the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday at 1pm.
