Cincinnati and Miami have met 11 times the last being in Cincinnati in 1998, Miami leads the series 10-1. Both teams have seen a resurgence in recent years setting up for some possible great games over the next two seasons. Both teams have been ranked nationally in the last few years, both teams are bowl bound once agains this season.
Bearcats head coach Tommy Tuberville was an assistant at Miami during the heyday of “The U” from 1986-1993. Tuberville has said he very much enjoyed his time at Miami, this game will be a bit of a home coming for him.
As for the matchup this is a huge grab for the University of Cincinnati who is still looking for life outside of the AAC. AD Whit Babcock and President Santa Ono have sold Cincinnati to everyone in the country and it is starting to show. Cincinnati has games against Miami, Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska, BYU, and Purdue over the next few seasons.
Key games like this are great for national television exposure and great for filling a newly expanded stadium. This is a very exciting announcement for the university. 2015 is shaping up to be a good season for Cincinnati Bearcats fans.
