Saturday night looking to win their 4th in a row. That didn’t happen, instead the bats fell silent and the team embarrassed themselves with 4 errors.

A night after snapping his 0-31 streak with two hits Todd Frazier was left out of the lineup in favor or Jack Hannahan. Frazier is batting .235 on the season, Hannahan a cool .213, Dusty Baker made the move to give Frazier a break Saturday night for no explainable reason and it costed the Reds.

The Reds offense was atrocious, garnering only 4 hits on the night while scoring only one run. San Diego managed to score three runs off 4 hits. Cincinnati’s offense inexplicably ran into the wall that has plagued them all season. Joey Votto continues to be the example of hitting for the Reds reaching on a hit and a walk tonight. One or two guys can not carry a team, at least not this team.

Tony Cingrani deserves no blame for the loss tonight, 5IP, 2H, 2ER, 5SO is nothing to hang your head about. Being pulled after 5 is something to scratch your head about, 92 pitches isn’t very high. Dusty Baker though saw that as an opportunity to pull Cingrani in favor of Alfredo Simon who did great over 2.1IP. Manny Parra though has been the wild card recently, tonight giving up run #3 to the Padres.

Jack Hannahan had 3 errors on the night, THREE. Those errors prompted Dusty Baker to say “Hannahan is the best in the business when it comes to fielding.” No, no he’s not, and yet another reason Dusty Baker has lost touch with reality and this Reds team.

Some horrible base running by Xavier Paul all but ended the chances of a Reds rally until the 9th when Todd Frazier came up to pinch hit for Sam LeCure in the 9th, Frazier struck out to end the game.

After a game like tonight and seeing that the Reds are 31-33 over their last 64 games it is hard to be excited, motivated or even try to find the positives. All it seems anymore is the offense is dead and Dusty make horrendous decisions and thats no way to play ball.

Cincinnati will be back at GABP tomorrow at 1:10 for their rubber match against the Padres, tune in or enjoy your Sunday.
