somewhat of a hot streak, winning 10 out of their last 14 games. Colorado comes into the series having lost 7 out of their last 10 with an overall record of 30-28 on the season. Cincinnati came to play Monday night and that started with Pitcher Bronson Arroyo.

The Reds won tonight 3-0 blanking the Rockies and dominating with their pitching and defense.

Arroyo has been rocky at some points this season, Monday was not one of those points. Arroyo went eight strong innings, only allowing 4 hits and no runs. He also kept his pitch count low at 86 pitches through 8 innings. Bronson could have gone for the complete game but Dusty Baker pulled him in favor of Aroldis Chapman. No complaints from me there, Chapman has been on point since his bad game a few weeks ago. Chapman recorded his 15th save of the season, striking out all three batters he faced in the 9th inning.

While the pitching was spectacular tonight the Offense was equally as good. The team recorded 9 hits in the game but they did strike out 9 times as well. Joey Votto had a bad night going 0-4 with two strikeouts, Shin Soo Choo also mirrored Joey Votto except for his one walk on the night. Jay Bruce has seemingly broke out of his “slump” going 3-4 including a two run homer. The offense for the Reds has been consistently getting stronger, although they need to work on hitting throughout the game just not in an inning here and there.

A Brandon Phillips update for everyone, he is looking at 3-4 days of rest, he still cant close his hand. It is not broken so once the swelling goes down and the hand is more flexible look for Phillips to be back on the field. He has played through injuries before and looks to be doing that again.

Cincinnati and Colorado face off tomorrow at GABP, Homer Bailey will be on the mound for the Red Legs.
