Cincinnati Bearcats Add Former Tennessee Kicker Andrew Gantz
By Matt Niehaus
Cincinnati appears to be the new home of Centerville (OH) kicker Andrew Gantz who had previously announced his intention
to walk on at Tennessee this season following Butch Jones to Knoxville. Instead Gantz appears to be headed to Clifton to play for Tommy Tuberville and the University of Cincinnati.
Gantz is the 7th overall rated kicker from the 2013 incoming class. Gantz was previously going to attend Tennessee based on his ablility to start immediately or so he believed. Instead something has changed over the last few months. He tweeted today:
"“I will now be playing football at The University of Cincinnati, I had to make the best decision for my family and myself #Bearcats #UC”"
It appears Gantz wanted to stay close to home and close to his family. Cincinnati though picks up a great kicker. After next season the Bearcats are going to have to replace Tony Milano so Gantz is a perfect fit.
Andrew Gantz has also said he is working on his punting. He averaged about 43yds this season in punting. He is generally a place kicker.
This is a good pick up for Tommy Tuberville and the Bearcats who continue a strong offseason.
