Brandon Phillips On Fire To Start Season.
By Jesse Mapati
Brandon Phillips aka “Dat Dude BP” his twitter name wanted the big hit for the Reds against the Phillies for a few reasons on Monday night. First and foremost, his team had a five-game losing streak it needed to snap. And with the No. 42 on his back to honor Jackie Robinson, and also they were playing ESPN and wanted to impress the viewing auidence indeed he did.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, Phillips came through with a two-run single which proved to be the game winning hit that gave the Reds a 4-2 win to stap the 5 game losing streak.
For me to a get a game-winning hit also on this day, it gets no better than that,” Phillips said.
That being said Brandon Phillips has been hot off the gate hitting .340 with 4 homeruns and 16 RBI and with Outfield Ryan Ludwick being out for extedned period of time Brandon has definately stepped up as the role of a cleanup hitter and i feel hes confortable in that spot of the lineup. He was moved a lot last year to being in the leadoff role and all the way down to cleanup but as Brandon stated before the season started he doesnt care where he’s at on the lineup just wants to help produce and get the team as much wins as possible.
You know what to expect from him when it comes to his glove I think playing in the WBC before the season started has really helped Brandon to start this season the way it has from him and i know he’s using motavation from not being selected to the all star team last year and not winning the gold glove. With Votto getting drawn walks at a high rate expect Phillps to get a lot of pitches and expect him to make them pay for it. If you watched the game last night when Brandon delierved the clutch you saw the emotion when he was in first the man loves the game and hates to lose glad we have him on our team.
