Marshall has not been available the last few games after pitching an inning at the start of the season, he pitched well in spring training. Since then though he has complained about tiredness in his shoulder. The Reds have said this morning that it is tendinitis in his left shoulder.
To this point the Reds have been working with an 11 man pitching staff. Dusty Baker said they have all they can with an 11 man staff now its time to go back to twelve to give Aroldis Chapman and Jonathan Broxton a relief.
Marshall had a good 2012 with 5 wins, 9 saves and a 2.5 ERA. His replacement Ondrusek has been a bit of a wild card the last few seasons. The Reds have stuck with him for some reason, while most fans wish they would cut ties. Ondrusek looking at his stats does not look bad, trust me I was ready to blast this move until I just looked at his stats. Having seen those I’m not as critical, perhaps his mistakes are the only things that stick out in my mind.
Either way the Reds face the Cardinals tonight, look for Ondrusek to make his first appearance of the season tonight.
