Reds turn to Bailey looking for a rare series win in St. Louis
By Jesse Mapati
The Reds have not always faired well in series in St Louis. Since 2003 the Reds are 3-22-2 in series in St Louis that includes winning 2 division titles in the last three years and still struggling to win a series in Busch ouch! But I believe this ball club of 2013 can break the recent curse that have haunted this team for a while when it comes to winning series’ in St Louis. There is something about Busch Stadium that makes the Reds very uncomfortable, I don’t know what it is but I definitely believe the recent string of losing at Busch will come to end hopefully by the end of the day.
RHP Homer Bailey is coming off an excellent start last Friday night allowing just two hits and three walks in six innings of a 15-0 rout of a Washington. He has of in his career struggled at Busch Stadium though going 0-3 with a 5.49 ERA in five previous starts. But this is a different and more mature Homer Bailey I look for a great star from him. He
will be opposed by the Cardinals Jake Westbrook.
Shin Soo Choo picked up two hits for the fourth straight game and extended his hitting streak to six games. Choo also made one heck of a throw to gun down Matt Holiday at the plate to end the sixth inning yeah we definitely don’t miss Drew Stubbs no disrespect towards Drew though.
Derrick Robinson picked up his first career start in left field and went 1 for 3 with a fifth inning single. Robinson displayed a willingness to work the count seeing a boat load of pitches this kid is gonna be great for us in the future it was great seeing him getting his first start.
First pitch from Busch Stadium this afternoon is at 1:45pm, after the game Redlegs will travel to Pittsburgh have a day-off tomorrow then play a 3 game series with the Pirates starting Friday at PNC Park. GO REDS!
