Kiel comes to UC bringing a bit of baggage but a lot of upside with him. Kiel was the number one quarterback in his recruiting class out of high school. We all know Kiel’s recruiting story, first committed to Indiana, then committed to LSU, then committed and played at Notre Dame this season before deciding to transfer. Now the young quarterback out of Columbus, IN is headed to Cincinnati and a program that is on the up and up.

Kiel informed Cincinnati on wednesday that he has decided to enroll at the school and plans to as soon as possible based on the academic calendar. Since we are nearly at the end of our spring semester it looks like Kiel will enroll on May 6th for the summer semester.

When asked why he chose the Bearcats Kiel said “Cincinnati was the best fit for me because the relationship I have with coach Darin Hinshaw is like nothing else, he is a great overall person and is someone I know I can get coached by.” Based on that is seems like Kiel is happy with his choice. Kiel looks to be the highest rated player the Bearcats have ever had.

I know I wrote a piece a week or two ago about Kiel being a bit of a head case and I stand by that. He has shown that he is indecisive about his decisions. As a student at the school and a season ticket holder I want to get excited but at the same time I have tempered my expectations until I see him on the field. Here’s to 2014 and a potentially great year for the Bearcats.
