Cincinnati had their home opener last monday, a home opener ruined by the Angels. Good thing for the Reds and their fans they get a chance to ruin the Cardinals opening day.

There would be nothing better than for the Reds to go into St. Louis today and lay it on the Cardinals like they did the Nationals friday night. On a lighter note this is the Cardinals first home game since the passing of Stan Musial, I have nothing but respect for that man so tip of the hat to his tribute today.

The Reds are coming off back to back home series wins against the Angels and Nationals. The clubs big bats are finally staring to come to life as the middle and bottom of the order are staying hot.

The team is currently being led by Todd Frazier who is batting an outstanding .480 at the moment followed by Choo and Phillips who are all killing it. Votto and Bruce are both batting under .300 but things are looking up for the Reds power duo. Brandon Phillips has brought his gold glove defense back this season as expected.

At the moment of this post the Reds are the second highest scoring team in the league. As well as being in the top 10 of all statistical categories in the league.

Both teams come into Wednesday matchup seperated by a game. The Reds are 4-2 while the Cardinals are 3-3.  Taking the mound of the first game of the series is Mat Latos for the Reds and Jamie Garcia for the Cards. Latos is looking for his first win of the season.
