Cincinnati is airmailing their Bengals to Sunny San Diego to go head to head against the Chargers on Sunday afternoon. The Bengals are entering the day, coming off of a three game win streak. On the contrary, the Chargers have dropped their last three and now hold a 4-7 record.
Cincinnati’s team has fought back after a four game skid in the middle of the season, to poise themselves for another playoff push. Now, entering the final stretch of the season, the Bengals have bettered their record to 6-5. With new life breathed into their season, every game matters for the Cincinnati squad and they will fight to make sure they get the win, especially on Sunday against the Chargers.
The Chargers have been plagued by injuries and have fell victim to another season of blown opportunities. They have the talent to win it all, but can never seem to piece it all together at the right time. That being said, they are still in second place in the AFC West. They are four games behind the surging Denver Broncos and are only two games out of a wild card spot in the AFC.
As we know, all too well, in the NFL anything can happen. If the Chargers were to get this win on Sunday at home against Cincinnati and then turn around and defeat the injury plagued Steelers crew next week, they could be right back in the thick of things. They will be sure to show up, ready to go in Qualcomm Stadium.
The Bengals will have to stifle them early on in the game to keep momentum on their side. The running game, passing attack, and defensive front has all come together to get the big win in the last three showings for the team. In turn, the Bengals have become unstoppable, with impeccable timing.
Though the momentum appears to be on their side, in Cincinnati we have come to expect a falter from the orange and black at the most inopportune time. The team will need to maintain composure when they hit the west coast next week. They will also need to hit the ground running and discourage the Chargers early on.
San Diego will be forced to play their best game of the year if they want to get the win. They will also be playing with desperation, which is scary when trying to factor in another victory for the Bengals. The game should prove to be a fun one to watch for both side’s fans. The Chargers and Bengals both feature gun slinger quarterbacks and both need the win for their team more than ever, with just a handful of games left in the season.
