Camacho Removed From Life Support, NFL Re-Thinks Challenge Rule

Ex-Boxing star Hector “Macho” Camacho was shot earlier this week while sitting in his car. Though earlier it was thought that he would survive the bullet that went through his jaw, Camacho was taken off of life support and declared dead today. The boxer was 50.

The NFL is re-thinking a rule that prevents NFL coaches from throwing the challenge flag on the plays that are already, by rule, being reviewed. In the past few weeks, on two different occasions, coaches have thrown the challenge flag and been flagged themselves for unsportsmanlike conduct that eventually cost their team the game.

Though 49ers back-up quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been practicing with the first team all week, head coach Jim Harbaugh will still not name a starter for the team’s game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Maybe he is trying to add a little mystery since the back-up had a nice showing last week when he stepped in for the concussed Alex Smith. Either way, the Saints will be ready for whoever they get.

Rex Ryan takes responsibility for his team’s 4-7 season and their embarrassing loss to New England on Thanksgiving night. The rumor mill is circulating that Ryan may be at risk of losing his job at the end of this season after his team’s inability to get anything done.

The NHL has canceled the season through December, as talks drag on between the league and the NHLPA. They were also forced to cancel All-Star weekend that was supposed to take place in Columbus, Ohio this year.

Morehead State suspends coach Sean Woods after verbally attacking and physically pushing his player after a foul was called on him during Friday’s game against Norfolk State.
