Happy Thanksgiving football fans! Not only is today a day to stuff our bellies full with turkey and stuffing, it is a day to stuff our eyes full of football. Let’s take a look at the three NFL match ups taking place today.
Texans at Lions – 12:30pm on CBS
Like pumpkin pie, the Detroit Lions have become an American staple on Thanksgiving afternoon. This year they welcome the Houston Texans as their guests in Ford Field. Houston has had the hot hand all season, only dropping one game this season. Detroit has been inconsistent and is coming into the game with only four wins on the season. There is good and bad news for the home team. Good news is, the Texans had to play a tough overtime game last week that no would have ever expected. The Lions will have the opportunity to take a win from a tired Houston team. The bad news for Detroit is that they have not won a Thanksgiving game for the past nine years. Will history repeat itself today?
Final Score Prediction: Lions 24, Texans 17
Redskins at Cowboys – 4:15pm on FOX
This game promises to be a fun NFC East divisional showdown. The Redskins are 4-6 with a dynamic rookie quarterback and the Cowboys are 5-5 with a quarterback who plays his best game in the month of November. Dallas is coming in to the game, though, after a close overtime win to a Cleveland team that has only won two games all season. While Washington is coming in to the game off of a blow out win in Philadelphia.
Final Score Prediction: Redskins 17, Cowboys 10
Patriots at Jets – 8:20pm on NBC
The Jets have been on the wrong side of many jokes this season. They have had a hard time working together as a cohesive unit and winning football games. On the other end of the spectrum, the Patriots have been dominating lately, even embarrassing the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday with 59-24 victory. The Patriots lost their number one receiver last week, TE Rob Gronkowski, but proved they have many other offensive weapons. This AFC East matchup is always a tough one for both teams.
Final Score Predictions: Patriots 28, Jets 13
