Saturday Morning Headlines: Case Dropped Against Bernie Fine, Lakers Say Goodbye to Brown

A probe spanning almost a year finally ended on Friday. The Federal authorities have dropped their investigation into a sexual abuse claim against Syracuse assistant coach Bernie Fine. It’s unclear whether Fine, now 66, will get his job back at the university.

NaNaNaNa NaNaNaNa Hey, Hey, Hey Goodbye…After a dismal 1-4 start, the Lakers have fired head coach Mike Brown. Assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff will run the team against the Warriors while the club looks for Brown’s replacement.

The NCAA ruled freshman Shabazz Muhammad ineligible after violating amateurism rules. The school plans to challenge the ruling.

MSU Spartans (16) were upset in their regular season opener in the Armed Forces Classic by UConn by a score of 66-62.

(4) OSU and Marquette had their game canceled on Friday due to unsafe conditions on the USS Yorktown. Coaches and administrators believed the continuing condensation made the makeshift court too dangerous to play on.

Top ranked Hoosiers opened the season with a decisive 97-54 point win over Bryant.

Olympic track star Lolo Jones paired with driver Jazmine Fenlator to win silver in bobsled at the World Cup opener in Lake Placid. The new team beat out Jones’ fellow track and field Olympic teammate Tianna Madison and her partner Elana Meyers by a mere 0.01 seconds.
