With the announcement on Sunday that Alfredo Simon had been selected as a replacement player for the 2014 National League All-Star Team, the Cincinnati Reds will send five players to Minneapolis for Tuesday’s festivities at Target Field.   Though none of that quintet, was elected as a starter, is still pretty exciting news for a team that has struggled with injuries and inconsistent play all season.  Things are looking up on the Riverfront!

Even though Simon, Johnny Cueto, Aroldis Chapman, Todd Frazier, and Devin Mesoraco won’t start on Tuesday, that doesn’t mean we won’t some Cincinnati Red flash on our television screens at some point during the contest.  In fact, I’m betting we’ll get a good dose of the good guys, as predicted on the following pages.
