Blue Mountain State Is Back! (Potentially)

What does this have to do with Cincinnati sports? Not a damn thing, nothing actually, Blue Mountain State isn’t close to Ohio. That doesn’t matter though because BMS may be back on the field soon.

For those of you that have either been under a rock for four years or don’t watch television Blue Mountain State was a college football comedy that aired on Spike TV for three seasons from 2010-2011. It was cancelled following its third season despite ratings that continued to grow.

The cancellation left BMS fans furious. College is four years (generally) there needed to be a fourth season. That season never came, until now. The show developed a cult following after its cancellation. With all three seasons streaming on Netflix and Hulu college kids and young adults everyone binge watched these seasons. With a cult following the time has come where there could potentially be a senior season. In the form of a movie.

Show creator Eric Falconer has started a Kickstarter to raise money for a movie. The goal is set at $1.5M with 28 days to go. The current amount raised sits at $327k so far. Falconer explains why the studio never made a fourth season, you can blame Twilight. Of course those fan girls would ruin something so great for the awful acting of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Falconer explains how they obtained the rights to the show, essentially the studio just gave them to him and co-creator Romanski. From there they looked for private investors, no serious interest. That is where kickstarter came in.

Veronica Mars a popular show was cancelled, after developing a cult following thanks to Netflix a Kickstarter was formed to produce a movie. It happened, the fans raised enough money and a movie was made. Fans have also helped to resurrect shows like Arrested Development and others.

The Mountain Goats need your help. The original cast all seems to be on board for the show. Meaning Thad, Alex, Sammy, Mary Jo and Coach Daniels could all be on the big screen soon.
