Remember when you were 5 and you had a fight with your friend across the street, a fight that was you shoving them as hard as you could. Remember those days? Where no damage was done but you were still hot for no reason? Fast forward to Thursday for me now.

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams chased down a ball that went into the stands along the first baseline right behind the tarp. Picture painted well enough for you? Thought so, now picture a 260 pound man falling over the tarp, landing on the wall and just missing catching the ball. Picture in your head still? Perfect.

Now picture a fan, seemingly a little tipsy, mouthing off that he caught a foul ball. Now imagine how you would react if you were Matt Adams.

You would just walk away because you’re the epitome of what it means to be a professional athlete? Well you’re better than me and every other person on the planet then. Especially if the fan was a fan of a hated divisional rival.

Adams landed on top of the tarp/wall. Upon getting up he appeared to push the pack of his glove against the fans stomach/chest. When I say push I mean he pushed him as hard as a toddler pushes. Basically an “aw that’s cute” type of push, nothing that caused any harm.

So how did the fan react? Well he high fived some guy, laughed then flipped off Adams. Way to represent Reds fans as a whole tough guy.

After this happened the vine made its rounds on twitter and Facebook. Then naturally the over reactive society that we are took to talk radio to discuss this. Along with this “discussion” came calls for the fan to press assault charges on Adams. Obviously some fans aren’t as educated as others, no lawyer would take that case, ever. So lets stop there, no more entertaining that crazy idea.

Why is this even an issue? You don’t think one of our players would do the same thing in the same situation? Sure they would, it had been a long day, a long two days at that, anyone would be annoyed at this point.

This is just another in a long list of incidents between the Reds and the Cardinals. A meaningless situation that will be talked about until the Cardinals come back to town.

The Reds play the Mets tomorrow, how about you focus on that fans.
