Xavier sophomore guard Semaj Christon has decided to opt out of his final two years of college and will enter his name in the 2014 National Basketball Association First Year Player Draft.

This comes as no surprise to Xavier Nation; before the season started many basketball experts were predicting that the Cincinnati native would peruse an NBA career following the season.

Christon was the Musketeers’ top scorer as he averaged 17 points per game and 4.2 assists per game. He received All Big East first-team honors because of his superb season and contributions for Chris Mack’s squad.

According to many sports websites’ mock drafts, Christon is a late first round pick in the draft. Watch for his name to be called late in the first round or early on in the second round. It will be interesting to see if he gets drafted before Cincinnati’s Sean Kilpatrick. The Xavier-Cincinnati rivalry will live on on Draft Night in the Big Apple.

The most recent Xavier Musketeer drafted by an NBA team was Jordan Crawford when he was selected by the Atlanta Hawks.
