The American Athletic Conference tipped off their first conference tournament in their inaugural season Wednesday night. The two games would determine who the #1 Cincinnati Bearcats would play and who the #2 Louisville Cardinals would play.

Cincinnati’s opponent would come from the UCF v. Temple game, a game that matched up two of the three worst teams in the conference. Temple and UCF combined for 8 conference wins this season, Cincinnati and Louisville had 15 apiece.

The game Wednesday though seemed as if neither team wanted to win. A game that went to double overtime saw the UCF Golden Knights come out victorious 94-90 over the Temple Owls. A game that lasted well into the night will not bode well for the Knights as their quick turn around has them facing a very physical team in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati was set up well regardless of who won but UCF was definitely the first choice among Bearcats fans. Cincinnati struggled against Temple in their last game narrowly winning 80-76 in a high scoring affair after giving up a 19 point lead in the final 12 minutes and a very hot Dalton Pepper for the Owls.

When it comes to UCF though the Bearcats have dominated them this season. In their two meetings the Bearcats margin of victory was 18 and and 28 points. The larger happening under a month ago.

The Bearcats needed to come out fast and get an early lead, this shouldn’t be a trap game and the Knights should be sluggish after last night. Tune in tonight at 7pm ET on ESPNU for the game.
