The Cincinnati Reds are currently playing in their annual Cactus League games as they do every spring. This year though something different is happening and it has nothing to do with the team. It has everything to do with the fans who continue to freak out over the results of spring training games and the teams overall record.

Cincinnati has a 4-12 record so far in the Cactus League, including six straight losses. If this were the regular season and the Reds started the first 16 games of the season only winning 4 games this might be a problem. This is spring training though, you know where teams come to practice and work out young players. These games mean absolutely nothing, zilch, they’re pointless.

That hasn’t stopped some Reds fans from losing their collective minds on twitter and they attacking this website’s twitter account for pointing out that these are just practice games. Practice games that mean nothing when October rolls around, but that didn’t stop fans from telling us that #RealFansCare when it comes to spring training.

Care all you want about these games but understand who is playing in these games. Here is how spring training games work, if a starting pitcher starts the game they will go generally 3-5 innings about 65-70 pitches. Once they are pulled a reliever will get an inning of work, sometimes another reliever will work after followed by minor leaguers to finish the game. Same goes for position players, starters play half a game then the backups and minor leaguers come in to finish the game.

If you were an actual “fan” you would understand how these games would work. Instead Reds fans are flat out panicking over quite possibly the dumbest thing ever, which promoted us to write the dumbest article ever.

Real fans care about what happens from March 31st through September 28th and hopefully the postseason. Anything before March 31st means absolutely nothing.
