The University of Cincinnati Bearcats are now winners of three games in a row after defeating the Chicago State Cougars 102-62 Monday night at Cincinnati’s Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats improved to 10-2 on the season behind the play of seniors Sean Kilpatrick and Justin Jackson.

Kilpatrick led the team in scoring with 21 points on the night, Jackson finished the game with 19. Kilpatrick played only 24 minutes Monday night as the Bearcats jumped out to a demanding lead, he wen 7-16 from the field and 4-10 from beyond the arc. That is the one portion of his game that Kilpatrick still needs to work on.

One player that did have a stellar night was Jermain Sanders who came off the bench Monday night to score 14 points and record 13 rebounds tied with Jackson for the most on the night. He also shot 50% from the field second only to Jackson. Sanders a junior had his best game of the season Monday and may have shown head coach Mick Cronin something that he liked.

Heralded freshman Jermaine Lawrence had only 2 points on the night behind 21 minutes of play. Mick Cronin has slowly worked this kid into the game but at some point Lawrence is going to have to show everyone what he is capable of.

The Cincinnati Basketball team returns to play on Saturday at NOON against Nebraska at Fifth Third Arena. The game was moved to an earlier time to not interfere with the Bearcats bowl game at 3:20pm.
