Another game and another win for the Cincinnati Bearcats as they traveled to Houston to face the Cougars. Cincinnati has now won six games in a row including Saturday’s game against Houston 24-17. A rainy water soaked field led added to less than ideal conditions to play in BBVA Compass Stadium, a soccer stadium converted for this game.

Led senior quarterback Brendon Kay who has been deadly accurate the last few weeks fluttered this weekend while still leading the Bearcats to victory. Kay tossed a big 40 yard touchdown to Chris Moore less than 30 seconds into the second quarter. A Tony Milano 25 yard field goal halfway through the second quarter gave the Bearcats a 10-0 win.

Houston got on the board in the second quarter thanks to great field position from a Brendon Kay interception. A 12 yard touchdown pass from John O’Korn pulled Houston within 3 points. At the end of the second quarter Cincinnati quarterback Brendon Kay tossed a 3 yard touchdown to Chris Moore again to give Cincinnati a 17-7 lead heading into the half.

Coming out of halftime Cincinnati scored on a 14 yard touchdown run from Brendon Kay. After that Cincinnati would not score again while Houston would only score one more time as Cincinnati hung on to a 24-17 win.

Brendon Kay was the second best quarter back in completion rating last week. His performance wasn’t indicative of that Saturday. Kay wen 29/50 386 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT. Not a bad day statistically overall for the senior quarterback. His 386 yards provided for big numbers for receivers Shaq Washington and Anthony McClung both had over 130 yards receiving. Running back Hosey Williams led the Bearcats in rushing with 84 yards.

Cincinnati has now won 9 games this season. They will be going for their 5th 10 win season in the last 6 years December 5th against the Louisville Cardinals at Nippert Stadium. The last game to be played in Nippert before the expansion.
