Cincinnati Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis had an important message to his football yesterday.

After losing in heartbreak fashion to the media frenzy team of the week Miami Dolphins in overtime 22-20 last Thursday night, the team lost it’s all pro defensive tackle Geno Atkins to an torn ACL he suffered in the 2nd quarter of the game.

With, all the number of players on IR, especially in the defensive side (8), coach Lewis is confident in his team, that they can overcome them. He did someone interesting research and it was sorth of a look up information for the team, to rally them up down the stretch of the season.

Lewis said: “I explained, I showed our guys that if you look at the last four or five Super Bowl Champions, and the amount of people that went on IR, they overcomed.” He mentioned the 2009 Super Bowl champions New Orleans Saints team, how they had double digit number of players on IR(16), and still won the chip.

Okay, coach has a point there I see where he’s coming from, hoping this team has that will to do so particular in the defensive side.

This Sunday they are playing the defending Super Bowl Champions Baltimore Ravens, who had 13 players on injured reserve last season, in 2011 New York Giants had 11, Green Bay Packers (14) in 2009.

Now he’s not saying according to Coach Lewis that this team is gonna win the Super Bowl, but he said to the team “injured teams can be winners.” I this team can overcome them, it’s all mental for this group and having the leadership voice in the locker room, which they do.

Today in Practice there was a Andrew Whitworth sighting, he practiced for the first time since the injury to his knee he suffered in the Jets game, missed the Dolphins game as well last week. Tight End Jermaine Gresham did not practice do to an apparent groin injury, joining him in the DNP list was LB Rey Maulauga and DT Devon Still.
