rules out Hawkins until at least Week 7 of the NFL season. Hawkins is still recovering from an ankle injury he suffered on August 1st.

Hakwins is arguably the number 2 receiver in the Bengals wide receiving corps. Numbers wise he was second behind AJ Green last season. His 51 receptions, 533 yards and 4 touchdowns will be missed while he is sidelined. The Bengals will need someone else to step up for the first 6 weeks.

Second year wide receiver Mohamed Sanu appears to be the guy the Bengals coaching staff has thrust into the number two role. Sanu had only 154 yards receiving in 2012, he did have 4 touchdowns on 16 receptions. Sanu has been good all preseason, look for him to continue his rise within the receiving corps.

The Bengals also announced the signing of former Alabama and New York Jets quarter back Greg McElroy. Cincinnati has signed McElroy to the teams practice squad after he was cut by the Jets this weekend. McElroy is in his third NFL season, he was waived by the Jets after an injury this preseason.

Cincinnati kicks off the regular season this Sunday in Chicago against the Bears. Look back here Friday for a preview.
