Bengals DT Geno Atkins Agree To 5-year, 55mil Extension.

Geno Atkins, arguably the best defensive tackle in the league, him and the Bengals finally come to an agreement for a long contract deal according to reports via ESPN and the Cincinnati Enquirer. The deal is worth five years and $55 million for the all pro player.

This isn’t a surprise, considering Atkins has become a stud defensive tackle and the Bengals knew they’re not a position to let him even think about the possibility of becoming a free agent as he enters the final year of his rookie contract.

About a month ago, the two sides weren’t even close to a deal, but in the past couple of days there were plenty of movement. According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter who tweeted saying “Geno Atkins was scheduled to earn $1.4 million in last year of rookie contract, now will earn $22 million in next six months.”

Geno coming off a career year last season with 53 tackles, 12.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.
