Arroyo Spectacular As Reds Sweep Cubs.

The Cincinnati Reds love to play in Wrigley Field and they complete a three game series sweep of the Chicago Cubs this afternoon winning 5-0 thanks to outstanding pitching by Bronson Arroyo.

The Reds got in front early in the 1st inning as Todd Frazier homered to left second batter of the game and a quick Reds 1-0 lead. Frazier had two hits in the game and two runs batted in as he slowing getting out of his funk.

Reds starter Bronson Arroyo was dealing this afternoon allowed no hits through the first four innings. In the bottom of 5th David DeJesus had the first hit after that next batter grounded into a double play and got Anthony Rizzo to line out to short to end the inning. Arroyo’s final line 7IP 2H, 0ER, 0BB, 7SO as he improve his season overall record to 11-9.

The offense was silent after Frazier’s homerun in the 1st as Cubs starter Chris Rusin was cursing along until the  fifth. Zack Cozart singled with one out then Ryan Hanigan doubled to center scoring Cozart to make it 2-0.

In the seventh inning Zack Cozart doubled to left off of Cubs reliever Carlos Villanueva scoring Jay Bruce who singled with one out to make it 3-0. They tacked on two more in the eighth as Frazier doubled to left scoring Chris Heisey then Joey Votto brought Frazier home with a RBI double himself and a 5-0 lead.

Alfredo Simon relieved Arroyo in the eighth pitched a scorless inning then Jonathan Broxton came on for the ninth and did the same.

With the win Reds have now won 7 of their last 8 games and will head to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers tomorrow night as it will be a four game series. It will be Tony Cingrani for the Reds and Kyle Lohse for the Brewers. First pitch is at 8:10pm. As of right now the Reds are 3 games out of first,Pirates and Cardinals play each other tonight so it could change.
