The Cincinnati Reds did exactly what they wanted to do to  start the long west coast road trip on the right path as they once again pile up the hits with thirteen and defeating the San Francisco Giants 8-3 to take three of four in the series.

The offense jumped in front first against  Giants starter Chad Gaudin as they been doing in the series.  Shin Soo-Choo leadoff with a double advanced to third on a groundout by Xavier Paul. Joey Votto brought him home on a sacrifice fly to center to make it 1-0.

In the third inning the offense in a surprisingly way were getting hits on runners in scoring position. Brandon Philllps singled to center scoring Votto and advance to second on an error by Hunter Pence in right. Jay Bruce doubled to right scoring Phillips to make it 3-0. They weren’t done Devin Mesaraco continues his hot hitting with a RBI single to center scoring Bruce to up the lead to 4-0.

Mike Leake was on the mound for the Reds and although he didn’t have his best stuff tonight he got out of trouble in every inning while allowing 12 hits going 6 1/3 innings pitched but only one run he surrendered as he becomes the first Red pitching starter to win 10 games as he improves his season overall record to 10-4 and his ERA at 2.76.

Offense kept at it in the fourth inning as Votto with the bases loaded and no outs grounded to third reached on a fielders choice scoring Leake who had three hits in the game to make it 5-1. Phillips sacrifice fly to center scoring Choo and a 6-1 Reds lead. They added two more in the sixth inning. The offense in this sereis had 55 hits, 15 doubles and 22 extra base hits simply crazy how its been inconsitent the whole the year and to break out like that is amazing.

After Leake loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh inning Dusty came in got him and brought Sam LeCure in even though it was a seven run lead the Giants looked like they were about to scratch some momentum. That wasn’t the case to be as LeCure got a ground out to first as Votto threw home to get the first out, then he struck out two straight batters to get out of it.

Logan Ondrusek came on for the final two innings allowed two runs but one of them were unearned. With the win Reds finish the season series against the Giants at 6-1 and will head to Los Angeles to take on the surging Dodgers for a four game series starting tonight as it will be great series of pitching it will be Mat Latos on the mound for the Reds and Zack Greinke for the Dodgers. First pitch is at 10:10pm.
