The Cincinnati Reds have now won two games in a row on this road trip. Sure the last two have been against the Cubs but two

wins in a row are two wins! And the offense has scored some runs in the last two days, so much has happened I’m not even sure if this is the same Reds team. Kidding, its not hard to look good against a Triple A team.

Cincinnati came out in a bit of a slump today, recording only 4 hits off Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija who went 6 innings allowing one run. The Reds came to life once Carlos Marmol came in for the Cubs. Cubs fans have a hatred for Marmol and we as Reds fans can feel their pain. Marmol didn’t even give up an official hit, he just walked batters and gave up one to many sac flies allowing the Reds to put up 4 runs in the 8th and take the win. To add salt to the wound Marmol didn’t even record and out in the inning before he was pulled.

Cincinnati’s offense is still in a power outage, only six hits in todays game. For a team that is sixth in run scoring they are 22nd in BA and 26th in Slugging percentage. They need to figure out what in the world is wrong because this type of play won’t fly after the All-Star Break.

As for the pitching, Tony Cingrani continues to shine as a starter. He got roughed up a little today and his scoreless innings streak ended but he has proved to be solid. When Cueto comes back I would like to see Leake sent down and Cingrani kept up with the club.

Joey Votto is out of his apparent slump, while he comes out of his slump Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier have been mired in slumps of their own. Unlike most Reds fans I hear on 700WLW I have yet to panic. Sure this is frustrating but I don’t have any anger yet. Tune into the talk shows and you’ll hear how bad Bruce is how much people hate Frazier, its comical. By mid summer Cincinnati will be back on form.

The Reds look for a sweep of the Cardinals tomorrow, Mat Latos will be on the mound.
