Reds needed only one run to seal the victory for Latos.

Game was scoreless in the bottom of the 6th 3rd baseman Todd Frazier hit a ball to dead centerfield off of the riverboat abover center for a solo homerun. The estimated distance of the blast was 480 feet 7th longest homerun in the 11 year existence of Great America Ball Park.

Latos came back for the 8th inning trying to save the bullpen which has been used a lot these last couple games with 2 exta innings games in the first two games of the series. He allowed a leadoff walk and a infield single to start the 8th.

Johnathan Broxton came in for Latos with runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs, a sac fly moved the runners to second and third. Broxton then struck out pinch hitter Alfonso Soriano and got a rocked shot ground ball of the bat of David DeJesus. Zack Cozart made a game saving clutch play to get the ball and throw from behind second base to get DeJesus just in time to end the 8th.

Aroldis Chapman came in the 9th allowed a hit, struck out one as he earned his 4th save if the year. Chapman has been solid to start the year wondering he wasn’t used last night well that’s a whole discussion used for later.

With the win the Reds go 8-2 on the homestand and now will have a 10 game road trip of their own starting tomorrow in D.C against the Nationals. Road trip will start with 4 in Washington, 3 in St. Louis, and then 3 in Chicago. Important road trip for the Reds as they have lost their first 5 of the 6 games played away from GABP time to get it going GO REDS!
