Ok now that that is out of my system, in all seriousness there is no reason to panic. Panic mode sets in after the All Star break if we go on a patented Pittsburgh Pirates second half slide. The season is less than two weeks old, the Reds have only played 11 games, sure the record for the club is 5-6 but we play 162 games. The Reds were 4-7 at this point in 2012, a playoff season.

Cincinnati has suffered some unfortunate injuries early in the season. Losing Ryan Ludwick in the opener wasn’t ideal, Sean Marshall’s shoulder has tendinitis and now Johnny Cueto has some injury after being taken out of todays game. The team isn’t hitting well on a consistent basis. Chris Heisey hasn’t been stellar at the plate and the Reds bullpen also has not been on top of their game.

Mike Leake has struggled in his first two starts of the season prompting Reds fans to call on the club to call up Tony Cingrani. Cingrani pitched six hitless innings in his first start, in his second start he gave up 3 hits in 61/3 innings. He has 21 strikeouts on the season and two walks. Cingrani would succeed with the Reds, it is only a matter of time until the club calls him up.

As for this weekend, the Reds have loss their last four games, two to the Cardinals and now two to the Pirates. As fans we never want to lose to these teams but the team will lick their wounds and keep fighting. The Reds return to the diamond tomorrow to take on the Pirates at 1:35.

Until then calm down, get off the ledge and support this team.
