Roethlisberger Ruled Out, Stanford Is Coming Up Roses

The Steelers officially ruled out Ben Roethlisberger for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. The quarterback had returned to practice on a very limited basis this week after his rib injury two weeks ago. However, the team felt that allowing him to play too soon may be detrimental due the type of injury he suffered. Charlie Batch is slated to be the starter on Sunday.

Stanford topped UCLA in the Pac-12 championship game on Friday night, earning a spot in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Quarterback Kevin Hogan led his team with 155 yards passing and a touchdown through the air. He also added 47 yards rushing and another TD on the ground.

Michael Vick (concussion) has been ruled out again for the team’s week 13 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Cowboys Stadium on Sunday. Also out for as many games as Vick is the Eagles’ starting running back, LeSean McCoy. Nick Foles and Bryce Brown will get the start again in their place.

In more MLB offseason deals, the Braves sent Tommy Hanson packing for the Angels organization. In return, Atlanta picked up relief pitcher Jordan Walden. Hanson was 13-10 with a 4.48 ERA last season for the Braves. Walden had a 3-2 record and a 3.46 ERA last season as a reliever for the Angels.

VCU volleyball coach is threatening to sue the school if he is not re-instated after being fired in November. The team posted their best record in his tenure and was told as being let go that his record had nothing to do with it. He believes the firing was because he was gay and the new AD does not approve.

The Raiders have suspended the troublesome linebacker Rolando McClain for two games. They team said that the reasoning behind the suspension was due to conduct detrimental to the team. McClain was asked to leave practice early on Wednesday, after many thought he would be released per his request on Thursday.
