The Cincinnati Bearcats’ men’s basketball team beat Iowa State on Friday night to advance to the Global Sports Classic championship matchup against the Oregon Ducks held late Saturday evening. Cincinnati and the Ducks went head to head in a game that both teams held the lead in at some point. The Bearcats got the victory, though, and had four players in double digits as they continued on their undefeated campaign by a score of 77-66.

Cashmere Wright led the charge, making five three point shots on the night and scoring 17 points in the victory. He also added two steals, one rebound, and one assist. Two other players were right behind him in scoring. Sean Kilpatrick picked up 16 points, two steals, three assists, and eight rebounds while JaQuon Parker added 16 of his own with four rebounds and one steal. Titus Rubles rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points, one assist, four rebounds and one steal.

The game got a little scary for the Bearcats in the second half of play. After returning from the locker room the Ducks hit the hardwood fast, shutting the Bearcats down for three and half minutes. Just as Oregon cut the Cincinnati lead, the Bearcats broke out again. A back and forth battle ensued before Cincinnati finally regained control, going on an 11-0 run.

Cincinnati’s victory is the team’s 6th this season, making the team undefeated so far. The victory also names the Bearcats as the Global Sports Classic champion. The zero loss Bearcats will come home to face the undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide next Saturday at 3:00 pm.
